Neil Young announces new album, ‘Talkin to the Trees’, with The Chrome Hearts
Neil Young has confirmed that his new album, Talkin to the Trees, with his new band, The Chrome Hearts, will be released on June 13th.
The Canadian singer-songwriter’s forthcoming album, which will be released through The Other Shoe Productions and Reprise Records next month, was previously previewed in January with the lead single ‘Big Change’.
Young has now shared another taste of the album in the form of the new single ‘Let’s Roll Again’, which interpolates his classic track, ‘Let’s Roll Again’. In the song, the musician calls out US car companies and Elon Musk, he sings, “If you’re a fascist, then get a Tesla, If it’s electric, it doesn’t matter.”
The track was previewed last week when Young performed a short set at the Light Up The Blues benefit concert for autism at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
On the new track, Young also passionately sings, “Build something special, that people need / Build us a safe way for us to live / Build us something that won’t kill our kids / Build us something that runs real clean / Come on America, let’s get in the race.”
According to press material, the album is described as “a full-on fresh-blooded leap forward as Young steps into his sixth decade in his creative odyssey filled with fearless twists and turns.”
In February, Young revealed on his website that he’d completed work on the album and confirmed he hoped it would arrive in time for his summer tour. He wrote: “It is in mastering now to make the vinyl, CD and digital copies. I am very happy and relieved to have this done in the short time it took. The album art has been completed and handed in with Jenice Heo. I am working on the lyric sheets now, hoping to hand-write the words and get them in, in time.”
For Talkin to the Trees, Young was joined by organist Spooner Oldham, guitarist Micah Nelson, bassist, Corey McCormick and drummer Anthony Logerfo.
