Neil Young has completed recording his debut album with The Chrome Hearts
Neil Young has announced that he has finished recording his debut album alongside his new band, The Chrome Hearts.
The Canadian musician revealed via a post on his personal blog, the Neil Young Archives, that the record had been completed with the assistance of producers Lou Adler and John Hanlon at the Shangri-La studio in Malibu. He also unveiled plans for them to follow up their debut single, ‘Big Change’, later in the year.
In his blog post, Young said: “It is in mastering now to make the vinyl, CD and digital copies. I am very happy and relieved to have this done in the short time it took. The album art has been completed and handed in with Jenice Heo. I am working on the lyric sheets now, hoping to hand-write the words and get them in, in time.”
The singer-sonwriter stated that he hopes that the album will be released in April, and that he and his band will be able to tour in Europe and North America in support of the record. “It is a happy feeling I have today,” he continued, “knowing I have made an album I think people will enjoy.”
In January, Young revealed that he will be releasing Oceanside Countryside, a ‘lost’ album that was originally recorded in 1977, adding to the collection of archival releases that he has been releasing at a rapid rate in recent years.
Young also confirmed that he will be headlining Glastonbury Festival in June this year, despite previously announcing his plans to boycott the festival due to misinformation that he received about its corporate sponsorship ties.
No other headliners for the festival have been announced so far, although Rod Stewart has been confirmed to be playing in the legend’s slot. This marks Young’s first return to the festival since 2009, when he also headlined the Pyramid Stage.
