Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts confirm live return following axed tour
Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts have confirmed their live return at Farm Aid later this year.
The upcoming performance, scheduled to take place on September 26th at the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater in Virginia Beach, marks their first show of 2026.
The bill also includes Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff, Turnpike Troubadours, Lukas Nelson, Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs, Jesse Welles, Sierra Ferrell, Mon Rovîa, I’m With Her, Amythyst Kiah, Lily Meola, and Chris Pierce.
Young did recently return to the stage in Canada for a benefit concert in May, but performed solo rather than alongside The Chrome Hearts.
He was due to be in the UK for a summer tour, which included dates at the Eden Project in Cornwall, Heaton Park in Manchester, as well as headline appearances at Blenheim Palace and at the inaugural State Fayre in Essex.
On the continent, Young and The Chrome Hearts were also set to visit France, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Italy.
However, in February, Young cleared his schedule and cancelled his planned trips to the UK and Europe, telling fans, “I’m sorry to let you down, but this is not the time.”
Then, in a later update, Young explained that he “just needed a break” and was “listening to my body” when making the decision to cancel the tour.
In addition to returning to the stage at Farm Aid, Young and The Chrome Hearts also have a new studio album on the way.
In April, Young confirmed that it had been made with producer Rick Rubin, and features three songs that he wrote with his first band in the early 1960s, sharing with fans, “We were then out of songs. We needed more. The next morning I had a song going through my head and I was playing it. I checked it out in the archives and found it was from 1963, unreleased.”
The legendary artist continued, “There were more. I found three others with it … also unreleased! Three 60 year old songs and five brand new ones! We finished mixing and assembling one month later on the next full full moon… April 1st. It was fast.”
As of writing, no official release date has been confirmed.
