Neil Young and Crazy Horse announce new album, ‘Fu##in’ Up’
Long-term collaborators Neil Young and Crazy Horse have announced a new album, Fu##in’ Up.
The nine-song body of work will be out on a limited vinyl edition on Record Store Day on April 20th and will receive a wider release the following week on April 26th. The tracks on the new record are reworkings of existing Young compositions, but with a twist. The original titles have been replaced with lyrics. The only moment that doesn’t is ‘Farmer John’, a cover that retains its name.
Announcing the new album on his website, Young shared a take on ‘Cinnamon Girl’, the classic from 1969’s Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, the first album he recorded with Crazy Horse.
He said of the song: “This version of Cinnamon Girl is an example of the energy captured as the horse road through the RIVOLI club in Toronto Nov 4, 2023.” Young and the band have also shared ‘Broken Circle (Over and Over)’.
In a press statement, Young explained: “In the spirit it’s offered, we made this for the Horse lovers. I can’t stop it. The Horse is runnin’. What a ride we have. I don’t want to mess with the vibe, and I am so happy to have this to share.”
Neil Young and Crazy Horse have been on a winning streak of late. They released World Record in late 2022, and in March 2023, Young, Nils Lofgren, Ralph Molina and Billy Talbot arrived with All Roads Lead Home. As for Fu##in’ Up, it features the core Crazy Horse members as well as Young’s son Micah on guitar, piano and vocals.
In addition to announcing the new album, Neil Young and Crazy Horse have released details of the Love Earth Tour, which will commence across North America in April and May.
