Morrissey - World Peace is None of Your Business

On the eve of one of the most important and impressing European elections our generation has ever witnessed we at Far Out thought it fitting to make one our intellectual elders our Track of the Day with what can only be described as the most obvious protest song in years. Morrissey and his track ‘World Peace is None of Your Business’ is the perfect fit for the ominous tomorrow and how we can change it today.

Morrissey has a certain type of morose familiarity that you get when you visit Grandparents in their nursing home, there’s life there for sure but their eyes are constantly focusing on the bleak eternity that awaits them. Morrissey however does this with a truly galvanising effect on this new song, as melodic and tone changing as you might expect but this time not only is there a message but a warming glow like an old scratchy jumper you forgot you had; pointless in summer but when the winter comes you know you are going to need it.

Well, ladies and gentleman the winter is upon us and as we stare bleakly down the loaded barrel of a fascist Farage it has gladly fallen upon one of the indie scenes great philosophers to put up the defences and send a few warning shots ourselves.

‘WPINOYB’ has one underlying message and that is ‘Stop lying down, get up and stand up!’ something Morrissey manages to achieve with effortless poise and without self-righteousness – a hard feat when you’re Morrissey. He does this so as to engage with the populous and enrage the enlightened, one needs a good talking to the other needs to stop talking and start acting.

In the spirit of democracy you can decide which.
