Morrissey cancels show due to illness hours before doors open
Morrissey has cancelled his performance in St Louis, Missouri, on January 15th, 2026.
As part of his ongoing North American tour, he was due to play at The Factory. However, hours before doors were due to open, ticket-holders were informed that it would no longer be going ahead.
A spokesperson for the venue said, “Due to an artist illness, the Morrissey concert…is cancelled. We apologize for any inconvenience, and all tickets will be automatically refunded at point of purchase.”
Ticketmaster have also confirmed that the event has been cancelled.
It comes after the former frontman of The Smiths began 2026 by cancelling his first two shows of the calendar year in California. He was due to play Rancho Mirage and San Diego earlier this month.
In relation to the Rancho Mirage cancellation, a message on Morrissey-Solo reads, “Due to an adverse reaction to a prescription medication, the Morrissey concert originally scheduled on Saturday January 3, 2026 has been postponed.”
After the cancellation-ridden start to 2026, Morrissey did make his return to the stage on January 10th in San Antonio, Texas, which saw him perform The Smiths classic ‘Paint A Vulgar Picture’ for the first time in 29 years.
Then, on January 13th, he performed in Oklahoma City and delivered a live debut of his new single, ‘Make Up Is A Lie’, the title track from his forthcoming album.
Morrissey is due to return to the stage on January 17th in Atlanta before performing in St Petersburg and Hollywood later this month.
The Mancunian is set to return to Europe for a headline tour next month, which includes a lone UK date at London’s O2 Arena on February 28th.
His new album Make-Up Is A Lie is set to arrive on March 6th, 2026. Upon announcing the record, along with sharing the title track, he told fans, “I hope you consider ‘Make-up is a Lie’ to be worth the attention that you give it. Many of us, here, and in France, Turkey, Poland, The Netherlands, Denmark, Greece, America, England … we have waited because our belief is unchallengeable: let the squawkers squawk.”
