Morrissey cancels another show due to “artist illness”

Morrissey has yet again announced the cancellation of another show, this time in Atlanta, due to what the venue deemed “artist illness”.

The former frontman of The Smiths began 2026 by cancelling his first two shows of the calendar year in California; he was due to play Rancho Mirage and San Diego, but never made it to the stage due to “adverse reaction to a prescription medication”.

Following this, on January 15th, Morrissey cancelled his performance in St Louis, Missouri. Now, Morrissey has cancelled his solo show in Atlanta, at the Fox Theatre.

The venue broke the news online, sharing, “Due to artist illness, the Morrissey show on January 17, 2026, at 8 PM has been canceled. All ticket purchases will be refunded automatically at the point of purchase. Please allow 7-10 business days for refunds to take place.”

The gig Morrissey did go ahead with, in San Antonio on January 10th, saw the singer-songwriter perform The Smiths’ ‘Paint A Vulgar Picture’ for the first time in nearly three decades.

In November, he called off his entire South American tour, due to “extreme exhaustion”, after cancelling two gigs in Mexico for the same reason.

Recently, Morrissey appears to have been cut from the new A$AP Rocky, despite the pair teasing a collaboration on multiple occasions.

Elsewhere in the industry, the Mancunian has also been mocked on the new Robbie Williams album, in the boldly titled ‘Morrissey’. On the track, Williams sings, “I’m isolated, deserted and friendless/ But the beat goes on, and it feels tremendous.”

His new album Make-Up Is A Lie is set to arrive on March 6th, 2026. The musician is set to return to Europe for a headline tour next month, which includes a singular UK date at London’s O2 Arena on February 28th. Fans are already predicting that not every show on the list will go ahead.
