Morgan Freeman says “convicted felon” Donald Trump is “leading us down a shithole”
Hollywood icon Morgan Freeman has launched a scathing attack on President Donald Trump.
Freeman made his comments in a new interview to promote the Prime Video series, which is notably set during the US Civil War. He executively produced the series alongside Kevin Costner.
During an appearance on MS Now on February 27th, Freeman spoke poignantly about the late American civil rights activist John Lewis, who died in 2020, and was asked how differently the world is now in comparison to the one that Lewis left.
He strongly replied, “We have somebody sitting in the White House who’s leading us down a shithole. I can’t personally understand how a convicted felon, convicted, 34 felonious counts of wrongdoing, gets to be president. How do you do that?”
Freeman went on to say that “it just doesn’t make sense to me” how Trump can be allowed to be president despite being a convicted felon.
In the build-up to the 2024 election, Freeman’s representatives were forced to deny to Reuters that he had issued his support for Trump’s campaign after it was falsely claimed on social media and quickly went viral.
He previously said of Trump during the first term at the White House in 2017, “As for politics today, I supported Hillary in the election, and now it feels like we are jumping off a cliff. We just have to find out how we land.”
In recent days, Trump has been embroiled in another public spat with Robert De Niro after the Oscar-winner told MS Now, “The story is our country, and Trump is destroying it, and who knows what his reasons are, but it’s sick, it’s fucked up. We have to save this country.”
Trump responded by taking to Truth Social to describe De Niro as a “sick and demented person” with “an extremely Low IQ, who has absolutely no idea what he is doing or saying — some of which is seriously CRIMINAL”.
