Molly Gordon to direct and star in new A24 movie ‘Peaked’

The Bear star Molly Gordon has announced she is set to write, direct, and star in a new comedy film for A24 called Peaked.

Plans for the movie, announced on February 4th, said it will follow “two girls who traumatised you in high school as they try to relive their glory days at their 10-year reunion.” Gordon will create the script alongside friend and fellow comedy writer Allie Levitan.

The behind-the-scenes team includes A24, who are set to produce alongside David Hinojosa and Zach Nutman of 2AM, as well as co-financers Topic Studios.

The project marks a return for Gordon to some of her previous work, following her role in the comedy-drama streaming smash, The Bear. Topic Studios were involved in the making of 2023 cult comedy Theater Camp, in which Gordon also co-directed, wrote, and starred. Her other credits include 2019 hit Booksmart and 2018’s Life of the Party, featuring alongside Hollywood comic Melissa McCarthy.

In addition to their new collaboration on Peaked, Gordon and Levitan have already announced their co-writing partnership on the upcoming Searchlight Pictures production Small Parts. For that film, Gordon is again set to direct, with acting legend Bette Midler taking on the lead role as a fresh look at her 1987 comedy Outrageous Fortune.

The highly anticipated Peaked project with Gordon is just the latest in a long line of exciting work in the mix for A24, with the production company announcing in January a new film with Brat singer Charli XCX titled The Moment, as well as recently releasing the first trailer for the upcoming film Death of a Unicorn, which will star Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega.

At the moment, there is no release date announced for Peaked.
