Mitski announces her “last show indefinitely”

Mitski has suggested it is time to take a break from music, announcing her “last show indefinitely” which closes her current tour.

Having self-released her first two albums: Lush and Retired from Sad, New Career in Business, Mitski has been working and recording relentlessly. The release of her critically acclaimed third studio album, Bury Me at Makeout Creek, was quickly followed by her fourth record Puberty 2 amiss constant touring.

Last year, Mitski stepped things up again, writing, recording and releasing another critically acclaimed album, Be the Cowboy which was surrounded somewhat in controversy amid Mac DeMarco’s recent release. Amid all the creative work in the studio, it’s Mitski’s commitment to playing her new material live which has seen her living out the back of a touring van for no less than five years.

Now though, as the end is in sight for this current string of tour dates, the singer songwriter is planning a well-earned break: “This will be my last show indefinitely, and I’m glad it’s ending in NY where I came up,” she said via social media.

A fan then replied to her comments on social media, stating the fact that she’s been touring in excess of five years to which Mitski answered: “Yeah. It’s time to be a human again. And have a place to live.”

It is not yet known the severity of the hiatus, or what future plans Mitski has in her mind. The last show will fall on September 7th at the Summerstage in New York City’s Central Park.
