Miley Cyrus confirms release of new single with Fleetwood Mac duo
Miley Cyrus has confirmed the release of her new single, ‘Secrets’, which features two members of Fleetwood Mac.
In a social media post made on September 16th, Cyrus shared a snippet of the forthcoming release, scheduled to arrive on September 19th, which features her singing the line, “Anywhere you go, you know I’ll follow.”
The song was written for her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, as a gift for his 64th birthday, and features contributions from Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood, who both play and are credited on the track, per People.
During a podcast with Monica Lewinsky in June, Cyrus explained of the song, “I wrote this song about my dad, because I wanted him to tell me even though there were secrets, even though I didn’t really want to know. I wanted to be the one he felt safe enough to tell me the things that were damning and damaging to the family.”
She added, “I wanted him to think that as a middle child, I’m old enough that I could take some of that.”
Billy Ray said of the creation last month on Instagram Stories, “For my birthday, Miley gave me the gift of music and wrote me a song called Secrets and got my favorite musicians Fleetwood Mac to play on it! I love you Mile.”
While Fleetwood Mac are currently inactive, earlier this year it was confirmed that Buckingham and Fleetwood had reunited in the studio to work on Fleetwood Mac drummer’s upcoming solo album.
Swedish producer Carl Falk made the announcement on Threads. “Slightly unreal moment to sit with Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood to play Lindsey the album we have been working on,” he wrote on the social media platform.
On September 19th, Buckingham and Stevie Nicks are set to reissue their classic 1973 album, Buckingham Nicks, which had been out of print for several decades.
