Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks confirm reissue ‘Buckingham Nicks’ following five-decade wait

After a series of cryptic posts on social media, Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks have confirmed their 1973 album, Buckingham Nicks, will be reissued.

The album has become a rare collector’s item over recent decades due to its long out-of-print status and its inability to be streamed on services such as Spotify. However, the wait to own it on vinyl is almost over, as it will be available once again on September 19th, 2025. They have also re-released ‘Crying In The Night’ digitally.

Rhino, a subsidiary of Warner Music that specialises in reissues, is handling the reissue. They have confirmed that they have used original analogue masters for the upcoming reissue.

A series of different vinyl editions will be available, including a 180-gram vinyl pressing on the Rhino High Fidelity imprint, which has been cut by Kevin Gray using the original masters. However, copies are limited to only 5,000 and these will be individually numbered vinyl.

Additionally, an even more limited edition vinyl includes two replica seven-inch singles featuring ‘Crying In The Night’, ‘Stephanie’, ‘Don’t Let Me Down Again’ and ‘Races Are Run’. Only 2,000 copies of this edition will be available.

The clamouring for a reissue dates back to 1981, when Nicks alleged that Buckingham was blocking the re-release during a 1981 interview with BAM Magazine. “See, he owns half, I own half. So he can’t do anything on that record without me and vice versa,” the vocalist shared. “So as soon as he says it’s okay, it will be done, because I’ve been saying I thought it would be a great idea for a long time.”

Then, in 2011, Buckingham told NME: “We have every intention of putting that album back out and possibly even doing something along with it.”

While hopes for a reissue seemingly dissipated when Buckingham was kicked out of Fleetwood Mac in 2018, now, unexpectedly, the end is nigh.

In recent weeks, the pair ignited speculation over a new project on social media, which began when they started following each other on Instagram. Days later, they both began sharing lyrics from the Buckingham Nicks song ‘Frozen Love’ on social media, which caused speculation to explode.

Then, a reissue was all but confirmed when a billboard featuring the Buckingham Nicks artwork alongside the date September 19th appeared on Sunset Billboard in Los Angeles.
