Lindsey Buckingham reunites with Mick Fleetwood in the studio
Fleetwood Mac pairing Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood have reunited in the studio to work on Fleetwood’s upcoming solo album.
Buckingham and Fleetwood were bandmates for several decades after the former joined Fleetwood Mac along with Stevie Nicks in the 1970s. However, Buckingham left the band under a cloud in 2018 following a disagreement with Nicks.
Since then, Buckingham has returned to his solo career and has maintained a strong relationship with Fleetwood, who has teamed up with the guitarist once again for his upcoming album.
Swedish producer Carl Falk, who is seemingly overseeing the project, made the announcement on Threads. “Slightly unreal moment to sit with Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood to play Lindsey the album we have been working on,” he wrote on the social media platform.
He continued: “And to see his genuine happiness for Mick to finally do his own album and offering to play guitar and to sing on it. Can’t wait to finish this one.”
In another post, he shared an image of Buckingham in the studio, writing, “Mick and Lindsey together again, what a flawless guitar player.”
Seemingly, Adam Granduciel from The War on Drugs is also involved in Fleetwood’s new project, according to Falk’s social media output. On Threads, he uploaded an image of him and Granduciel with Fleetwood in the studio along with the caption, “That’s a wrap The War On Drugs”.
Earlier this year, Fleetwood addressed the ongoing feud between Buckingham and Nicks at Steven Tyler’s Janie’s Fund Grammys viewing party on February 2nd. “I always have a fantasy that [Stevie] and Lindsay would pal up a bit more and just say everything’s OK for them both,” the drummer said, adding, “But we’ve had such an incredible career.”
It comes after Nicks revealed that the final straw occurred at a MusicCares benefit in 2018, telling Rolling Stone that she “dealt” with Buckingham for “as long as I could” and that she gave him “more than 300 million chances.”
