Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White in contention for ‘The Social Network’ sequel
Oscar-winner Mikey Madison and The Bear star Jeremy Allen White are reportedly under consideration to star in the sequel to The Social Network.
The upcoming movie will see Aaron Sorkin return as screenwriter and also take over on directorial duties from David Fincher, who previously helmed the 2010 original that chronicled the rise of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
According to Variety, both White and Madison have met with Sorkin, but no offers have been made to either star regarding the movie, which is still in development at Sony.
The upcoming sequel is set to be based on The Facebook Files, a series of journals published in 2021 by the Wall Street Journal that explored the negative impact of the social media site and Facebook’s compliance using leaked internal documents.
The Social Network secured eight Academy Award nominations, and Sorkin’s work on the movie won him the Oscar for ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’.
Following the success of Anora, Madison has been selective about her next move, rejecting the chance to appear in Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter movie opposite Ryan Gosling. She has since reportedly signed on to star alongside Kirsten Dunst in Alejandro Landes Echavarría’s thriller Reptilla.
Meanwhile, White’s next major role is as Bruce Springsteen in the upcoming biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere, set for cinematic release on October 24th, 2025. The movie, directed by Scott Cooper, is based on author Warren Zanes’ 2023 book of the same name. The original book tells the story of how Springsteen hibernated in isolation to produce his 1982 masterpiece Nebraska.
