Micky Dolenz confirms 60th anniversary tour celebrating The Monkees
Micky Dolenz has confirmed details of a new tour celebrating 60 years of The Monkees.
Dolenz is the sole surviving member of the group following the death of his late bandmates Davy Jones, Peter Tork, and Mike Nesmith.
The forthcoming run of shows in North America, which begins in February and ends in November 2026, will see Dolenz perform their material in chronological order, charting their career over the years.
The tour will take him across the United States with notable dates including the Paramount Theatre in New York and the Capitol Theatre in Clearwater. The venue is yet to be announced for his show in Los Angeles on September 12th, which is the 60th anniversary of when the band’s television show first premiered.
In a statement, Dolenz said of the upcoming shows, “I’ve spent nearly my entire life either in front of or behind the cameras or microphones. Much of what I’ve been able to share with the world has come from this thing called ‘The Monkees’ – this wacky musical-comedy TV show about a band struggling for success.”
He then compared the ironic difference between the fate of The Monkees on television compared to real-life, adding, “Interestingly, on the show, the Monkees never actually made it. Off-screen, however, we sold out concerts all over the world.”
Dolenz then quoted his late bandmate Mike Nesmith, who died in 2021, stating, “Mike (Nesmith) put it perfectly when he said, ‘when we first played, all by ourselves, it was like Pinocchio becoming a real little boy’.”
The singer said of their career, “I remain proud of what I’ve achieved in my time, particularly with my late great and still-beloved Monkee brothers Davy (Jones), Peter (Tork), and Michael.”
Dolenz concluded, “What I want to do, as the 60th anniversary of that wonderful moment is upon me, is to look back and share with the fans the sheer joy of what we accomplished—and what it all still means to so many.”
