Mick Jagger shares workout playlist for Apple Music

The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger has shared his workout playlist for Apple Music.

While the British rocker has continually shown that he has his finger on the pulse when it comes to new music, this playlist showcases the extent of his broad taste, ranging from rock ‘n’ roll staples to club classics. Typically, his work with The Rolling Stones appears, as does an overlooked solo effort.

Elsewhere, the likes of Prince, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Sly and The Family Stone, Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, Benny Benassi and The Biz and Fatboy Slim feature. Also demonstrating his taste for contemporary big hitters, Burna Boy and The 1975 appear.

The 1975 track included is ‘Sex’ from their eponymous debut album, released in 2013. While it hasn’t been confirmed whether Jagger is a longtime fan of the Wilmslow pop-rockers, they did support The Rolling Stones at BST Hyde Park in 2013, the year ‘Sex’ was released.

Describing the new playlist, Jagger explains: “Sometimes I like to exercise in silence, other times I like to be in the gym with Mozart but most of the time I enjoy exercising to music like this!”

Meanwhile, last year, The Rolling Stones returned with their new album Hackney Diamonds. With the record, the legendary group broke chart history by becoming the first band to score new number one albums in six different decades.

In a three-star review, Far Out wrote of Hackney Diamonds: “It’s impossible not to get a kick out of these elder statesmen of rock and roll putting their best collective foot forward to see what remains of their creativity. You can call Hackney Diamonds whatever you want, but you have to call it a success.”
