Mick Jagger puts on his mannequin arms for surreal Jimmy Fallon sketch

Jimmy Fallon brought Real People Fake Arms back from the dead for a very surreal sketch starring The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger.

Real People Fake Arms, which has not been used on the show as a comedic vessel for more than a decade, has previously seen Fallon team up with A-listers such as Jim Carrey, Justin Timberlake and Miley Cyrus.

Introducing the sketch, Fallon said with a deadpan delivery, “I was talking to someone the other day, and they brought up this show I used to do in the ’90s, called Jacob’s Patience. It’s a British soap opera, I’ve seen clips of it popping up online, it was a lot of fun, but my co-star could be a little difficult.”

With a straight face, he added, “For one, he refused to use his arms in any of the scenes. He was very protective of them, so he used mannequin arms instead. And, to make him more comfortable, the director made everyone use mannequin arms. It sounds crazy, but if you watched it, you’d never be able to tell.”

Fallon then showed his audience a snippet of Jacob’s Patience, which featured none other than Mick Jagger as his co-star.

In the sketch, Jagger plays Tony, who runs a jewellery store called Hackney Diamonds, a nod to The Rolling Stones’ 2023 album of the same name.

However, calamity ensues throughout the sketch due to the mannequin arms, which cause damage worth thousands of dollars to the jewellery.

There are more Stones references squeezed in throughout, too, such as Fallon replying, “You can’t always get what you want,” upon discovering that one item of jewellery he had his eyes on would set him back $5,000.

Jagger was seemingly very much enjoying himself throughout the entirety of the left-field sketch and was on the brink of corpsing for the majority of the segment.

This is not the only glimpse that fans of Jimmy Fallon Tonight will get of The Rolling Stones in the coming days; Mick Jagger is set to be a guest on May 7th, Keith Richards will appear on May 8th, and Ronnie Wood has a seat reserved on the sofa on May 14th.

It comes after The Rolling Stones confirmed their new record, Foreign Tongues, would be arriving on July 10th, and shared the lead single, ‘In the Stars’, earlier this week.

Unlike other albums made by The Stones, Foreign Tongues was a straightforward process that remarkably took less than a month to complete.

In a statement, which accompanied the announcement on May 5th, Jagger reflected on making Foreign Tongues, “I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”

Special guests on Foreign Tongues include Paul McCartney, The Cure’s Robert Smith, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, and Steve Winwood.
