Mia Goth sued for allegedly kicking a background actor during ‘MaXXXine’ filming
A background actor has alleged that Mia Goth purposefully kicked him in the head while filming a scene for the upcoming Ti West slasher MaXXXine.
The actor, James Hunter, has sued Goth for battery, stating that she “taunted, mocked and belittled” him after the incident. He was hired to play the role of ‘Dead Parishioner’, which required him to complete three days of filming.
Hunter claims that he was instructed to lie on the ground covered in fake blood, but during one take, Goth almost accidentally stepped on him.
After telling the assistant director that he was worried about Goth potentially stepping on his head, the leading actor was reportedly informed about Hunter’s concern.
However, during the next take, Hunter claims that Goth intentionally kicked him in the head, leaving him with a concussion. Upon returning home, he was informed by the casting agency that the film crew did not need him to come back to finish filming.
The lawsuit is not only suing Goth, but Hunter is also accusing A24 of wrongful termination. Goth is yet to comment on the lawsuit.
MaXXXine is the third instalment in West’s slasher trilogy, which began with the popular ’70s homage X. Goth played the lead character, Maxine, a porn star who is obsessed with becoming famous, as well as the elderly Pearl, wearing prosthetics.
In Pearl, Goth reprises the titular role; however, the movie follows her in her younger days, providing an origin story for the villainous character. MaXXXine sees Goth play Maxine after the events of X. It is set for release later this year.
In a four-star review of Pearl, Far Out wrote: “An audacious sequel that builds on the themes of the first film without at all rehashing its material, Pearl is a modern marvel of horror that demonstrates the creative eccentricity of one of cinema’s most thriving genres.”
