Metallica announce surprise US November shows with special guests
Metallica have unveiled two new shows in Connecticut this November; Suicidal Tendencies and Spiritbox will provide support.
The news follows a huge announcement earlier this year, where the band confirmed their Life Burns Faster residency at the Las Vegas Sphere.
After adding more shows to the residency due to high demand, Metallica have announced two new shows which aim to celebrate the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, to mark the venue’s 25th anniversary.
On November 19th, Suicidal Tendencies will open at the 10,000-capacity venue, while on November 21st, Spiritbox will take the all-important support slot.
Famously, Metallica will adhere to No Repeat Weekends across their Las Vegas residency, where no songs are played at both dates. The metal stalwarts will continue with this process in Connecticut.
Therefore, there will be both single-day and two-day ticket packages available, which will go on a fan club pre-sale on April 8th. General sale will begin on April 10th.
However, it hasn’t been all smooth-sailing, with the band recently acknowledging some fan feedback that purchasing the tickets was a lengthy, frustrating process.
Last month, they acknowledged, “In the meantime, we hear you loud and clear that the ticket-buying process was often frustrating and not always smooth. We’re working with our partners to improve this experience and offer some remedies for the next time around.”
Acknowledging the unreal demand, which took the scheduled eight dates all the way to 24, they also wrote, “We are so appreciative and grateful to all of you for the incredible response.”
First, the band must undertake their huge UK and European stadium tour, which is set to begin on May 9th at the Olympic Stadium in Athens and will include dates in London, Dublin, Cardiff, and Glasgow.
As ever, a huge reception is expected for the new dates. When Metallica’s M72 World Tour recently passed through Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium last year, the band caused a minor earthquake when they performed their anthem ‘Enter Sandman’.
