Metallica announce UK and European tour
Heavy rock icons Metallica have announced details of a huge stadium tour which will visit the UK and Europe in 2026.
The tour is part of their M72 World Tour, which is in support of their most recent album, 2023’s 72 Seasons. It first traipsed through Europe for a set of dates in 2023, including two headline performances at Download Festival in the UK, and now, they will return to the continent for 16 shows next summer.
The run of dates is set to begin on May 9th in Athens at the Olympic Stadium. Metallica will then head to Bucharest, Romania on May 13th before performing at Stadion Śląski in Chorzów, Poland on May 19th.
Metallica will bring their M72 World Tour to Frankfurt for two special shows as part of their No Repeat Weekends series. The band performs two completely different setlists at each show, and fans can purchase two-night tickets for these events.
They will also perform two shows at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, the Aviva Stadium in Dublin and the London Stadium in the English capital. Metallica’s UK tour will also include visits to Hampden Park in Glasgow and the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
Support for the run of dates will come on certain dates from Gojira and Knocked Loose, while Pantera and Avatar will open for the rest of the shows.
A portion of tickets sold will be donated to their All In My Hands foundation, which has raised millions for vital causes since its inception in 2017.
When Metallica’s M72 World Tour recently passed through Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium on May 8th, the band caused a minor earthquake when they performed their anthem ‘Enter Sandman’. Their US tour is set to continue this weekend with two shows at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
