Metallica announce ‘Life Burns Faster’ residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas
Metallica have confirmed their plans to perform a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
Speculation surrounding the rock legends performing at the state-of-the-art venue has been running rampant for many months, and now, Metallica have finally made it official.
The residency, titled Life Burns Faster, will see Metallica continue their No Repeat Weekends tradition that they enforced on their M72 world tour, which stops them from playing the same song twice during any given weekend, and encourages fans to attend multiple shows.
Their first weekend at the Sphere will take place with shows on October 1st and 3rd, 2026, followed by more dates on the 15th and 17th, 22nd and 24th. The final weekend of concerts will take place on October 29th and 31st.
According to press materials, the Sphere shows “will see live staples and surprises spanning the Metallica catalog enhanced by the venue’s immersive technologies that will allow fans to experience the sound and fury of the band’s live performance in new experiential dimensions”.
The band also plan to take full advantage of the Sphere Immersive Sound and multi-sensory 4D technology features that the venue has at its disposable.
In a statement, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich explained, “About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ‘23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!’”
Ulrich added, “This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way fuckin’ psyched to go next level!”
Before they can think about the Sphere, Metallica also have a huge UK and European stadium tour on the horizon, which is set to begin on May 9th in Athens at the Olympic Stadium.
Metallica’s UK tour will see them play two shows at the London Stadium, as well as visits to Hampden Park in Glasgow and the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
