Metallica add six shows to Las Vegas Sphere residency thanks to “unbelievable demand”
Metallica have delighted fans by adding six shows to their upcoming Las Vegas Sphere residency due to “unbelievable demand”.
Last week, the rock legends confirmed ongoing speculation that they will perform a residency at the iconic Las Vegas location, dubbing the tour Life Burns Faster.
They announced an initial run of dates, starting on October 1st, followed by more dates on the 15th and 17th, 22nd and 24th. The final weekend of concerts will take place on October 29th and 31st.
Now, the band has confirmed via social media that a new slate of dates is coming: “Due to unbelievable demand (wow, guys!) SIX SHOWS are being added to our ‘Life Burns Faster’ residency at Sphere in Las Vegas.”
However, they have yet to disclose the exact timings of the shows, instead teasing fans: “Keep watching for dates and additional info.”
As promised by the band, the shows will allegedly “see live staples and surprises spanning the Metallica catalog enhanced by the venue’s immersive technologies that will allow fans to experience the sound and fury of the band’s live performance in new experiential dimensions”.
In the original announcement, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich explained, “About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ‘23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!’”
Therefore, Ulrich expanded, “This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way fuckin’ psyched to go next level!”
Before they make it to Sin City, Metallica must make it through a huge UK and European stadium tour, which is set to begin on May 9th in Athens at the Olympic Stadium. They will take to venues such as Hampden Park in Glasgow and the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
