Max Richter announces North American tour dates
The Oscar-nominated composer Max Richter has announced a run of North American tour dates slated for this summer.
Richter will take to the United States and Canada this June, appearing in some of America’s most revered concert halls.
The penultimate stop on his tour also includes the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, marking the only festival date on the routing.
Recently, Richter released the soundtrack for Chloé Zhao’s forthcoming feature film Hamnet, which received a nomination for a Critics’ Choice Award, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award.
These dates follow on from the tenth anniversary celebrations of Richter’s landmark project SLEEP. In September, the largest SLEEP performances to date took place at London’s Alexandra Palace, alongside the release of Sleep Circle – a hallucinatory 90-minute journey into the hypnagogic state.
Earlier this month, the critically-aclaimed composer warned MPs against the usage of AI in the creative industry. In a statement given on February 4th, Richter said: “Artists must have the right to determine whether to opt-in to any AI system being trained on their work, and if so, to be properly rewarded for that process.”
He went on, “Music is the closest thing humanity has to magic. But all of this will fade into history unless we support creators’ rights.”
