Marvel Studios unveils ‘Ghost Rider’ movie starring Ryan Gosling
Marvel Studios has announced a new addition to their cinematic universe: A new Ghost Rider movie is in the works, starring Ryan Gosling in the leading role.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige made the official announcement that the Marvel Comics antihero is set to make his big-screen return, following non-Marvel-affiliated movies in the 2000s starring Nicolas Cage.
After announcing the lead role, Gosling stepped out to thunderous applause. The star was visibly taken aback: “Wow, is this really happening?” the actor asked the crowd.
He added, “As you know, this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a very long time.”
Gosling went on to add that there was “only one director” who could bring Ghost Rider to the screen; he welcomed Shawn Levy to the stage.
Gosling and Levy are currently collaborating on the next Star Wars: Starfighter movie, which will hit cinemas on May 28th, 2027.
Levy shared with the crowd, “As Ryan started talking about his vision for this character, we started riffing. And I finally said, ‘Bro, let’s ride.’ So guys, we’ll see you in 2028.”
Feige has previously sung the actor’s praises, gushing earlier this year, “Ryan’s amazing. I’d love to find a place for him in the MCU. He’s dressed up as Ken on Venice Beach and gets more press than giant movies coming out that weekend. It’s amazing.”
Following Cage’s interpretation of the character in the 2007 movie and the 2011 follow-up, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Gabriel Luna went on to take on the character’s likeness in the TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. between 2016 and 2017.
The supernatural antihero is famously bonded with a demonic Spirit of Vengeance, and often rides a motorcycle.
Elsewhere at San Diego’s Comic-Con, Marvel announced a third Black Panther movie, set to hit cinemas in December 2028. It will star David Jonsson and will be directed by Ryan Coogler.
