Machine Gun Kelly responds to Bob Dylan compliment: “I’m so grateful”
Bob Dylan has surprisingly shared a video of Machine Gun Kelly performing at a record store in Florida on his Instagram, much to the rock singer’s delight.
Over the last year, Dylan has been a late adopter to social media which he has treated in a unique manner unlike anybody else. He infrequently uses his X account to share stories from his travels on the road, pay tribute to fellow musicians who have recently passed away, or merely to let his thoughts out.
Meanwhile, his Instagram account is a collage of videos of classic performances by musicians or actors from yesteryear that Dylan wants his viewers to see. Typically, the privilege of featuring on Dylan’s account is reserved for icons such as Bobby Darin performing on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1959.
However, his latest video, from 2016, shows MGK playing at Park Avenue CDs in Orlando, Florida. Dylan’s reasoning for his post is unknown, as he didn’t share a caption or any further information about why he felt compelled to share the video with his million followers on the social media platform.
Understandably, Machine Gun Kelly is flattered by the compliment. In a video on Instagram, he gleefully said, “I’m in my conversation pit in my house and having a discussion about is this the right thing or the direction for this album, I’m questioning it right. Then, in the same breath that I’m questioning it, somebody goes, ‘Bob Dylan just posted a video of you’.|
The pop-punk musician continued: “I’m like, ‘There must be another Bob Dylan’. We go on his Instagram and he posted a video. He’s just the originator of doing everything, opposite of what people wanted him to do, randomly posting a video of me back in the day rapping in a vinyl shop. I’m like, ‘What the fuck, dude’. Trust the signs, man. I’m so grateful”.
Dylan is set to resume his Rough and Rowdy Ways tour in Tulsa, Oklahoma next month. He will also join forces with Willie Nelson for a co-headline tour in the summer.
