Lykke Li has unveiled plans to put in a new, all-female music festival, which will be held in Los Angeles in June.
Li, who will also be performing, has managed to recruit the likes of Cat Power, Charli XCX, Megan Thee Stallion, CupcakKe as well as a rare acoustic set from Courtney Love & The Chateau Band as part of the line-up.
The festival has been penciled in to take place on June 8th at the Los Angeles State Historic Park as a “celebration of the arts, culture, and music by the women of today.”
According to a statement, Li chose the name as a nod of the head to the Mexican mezcal brand YOLA Mezcal which she founded alongside Yola Jimenez and Gina Correll Aglietti. The brand is run and staffed by women and is dedicated to “developing the economic autonomy of the women of Oaxaca by providing them with steady work and fair wages.”
Tickets for the one-day only event will go on sale April 5th and, as part of the sales, the festival has partnered with PLUS1 which will result in part of the ticket sales being donated to The Downtown Women’s Center in LA.
