Lucy Dacus is grateful and grounded on new track, ‘Planting Tomatoes’
Lucy Dacus lives a life she would die for on the new single ‘Planting Tomatoes’, released alongside a lyric video filmed in Tokyo.
The new track initially arrived as a limited edition Record Store Day exclusive seven-inch vinyl last weekend, and is now available on streaming platforms everywhere.
The reflective yet jovial new song has a strong percussion section. As per an official press release, ‘Planting Tomatoes’ “is about making a sincere effort to stay present, grateful and interested on a day you realize you’re older than someone you’ve lost.”
The song follows up recent news that the Boy Genius singer-songwriter will be embarking on a North American tour, which will include two symphony shows.
For the first of these special shows, Dacus will perform with the Chicago Philharmonic, after which she will perform with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, with Cat Power also slated to perform ‘The Greatest’.
For every headline show, the ‘Night Shift’ singer will ensure that $1 from every ticket will go to charitable organisations serving queer and trans youth in America, as per her partnership with The Ally Coalition.
