Looking behind the scenes of Spielberg’s masterpiece ‘Jaws’ with these brilliant images

The 1975 American thriller film directed by Steven Spielberg, Jaws, will live long in the cinematic hall of fame. It was a project which used the best of the available technology at the time to create an action-packed film that was as much a thrill-a-minute as it was a psychological chiller.

Based on the Peter Benchley novel of the same name, the summer release was a box office triumph and left audiences afraid to go back in the water, such as its power on screen.

Not only was it a commercial triumph but it was roundly applauded by critics too and with that extra push became the most successful motion picture of all time until George Lucas’ Star Wars blew it out of the water.

One of the finer points of this production was the huge amount of special effects that Spielberg employed. His detailing and portrayal of this monstrous shark became a feather in the hat of cinema’s most acclaimed director. His attention to detail was unmatched and you can see from the images below that it wasn’t wasted time.
