Watch Lindsey Buckingham react to Charli XCX’s ‘Von Dutch’ video
Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham has moved into the realm of YouTube reaction content, beginning with Charli XCX’s video for ‘Von Dutch’.
In recent months, Buckingham has begun to use his YouTube channel as a place to offer fans a peek behind the curtain into his creative process with other recent video titles including, ‘Most fun album to create – broken down into two categories’, and ‘Technology is a useful tool, but it can get in the way of creativity’.
Now, he’s moved into the reaction space and brought his daughter, Leelee, along for the ride. The video began with the topic of Brat Summer, which Lee asked her father if he participated in, to which the guitarist jokingly replied, “The brattiest”.
The duo then sat back and watched the entirety of the video for the floorfiller while Lindsey offered sporadic commentary, such as “Getting kinda saucy already” and “It’s not a good place to get saucy,” regarding the video’s airport location.
“I thought it was very entertaining. I mean there was so much going on, and all in the context of a normal restrictive environment,” the guitarist said when probed for his thoughts after watching the whole ‘Von Dutch’ video.
Upon being asked by Leelee about the message that he thinks Charli was attempting to send with ‘Von Dutch’, he shared, “She’s saying, ‘Screw you’.”
This summer, Charli XCX is set to headline a number of festivals across Europe such as Primavera Sound, Orange Warsaw, and Parklife before bringing Brat to The Other Stage at Glastonbury for a headline set on June 28th.
In addition to her live commitments, the English artist is teaming up with A24 to star in and produce the new movie, The Moment. It will follow a rising pop star who is dealing with life in the limelight ahead of her debut arena tour.
