Lil Nas X breaks silence on “terrifying” arrest amid felony charges
Lil Nas X has opened up about his “terrifying” arrest in light of new felony charges against him.
In the early hours of August 21st, the ‘Old Town Road’ singer was spotted strutting down the street in Los Angeles in his underwear. The Los Angeles Police arrived at the scene and attempted to approach him, when the rapped allegedly charged.
The rapper, whose real name is Montero Hill, was subsequently handcuffed and taken to hospital for treatment for a possible overdose; a few hours later, he was taken to the police station, where he remained over the weekend.
On August 25th, the star was charged with three counts of battery against a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. He pleaded not guilty to all charges, while his bail was set at £75,000.
The case will now progress to pretrial, which begins on September 15th, and Hill will face up to five years in prison if sentenced.
A Los Angeles judge also ordered Hill to attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings, but the rapper’s attorney, Christy O’Connor, has insisted that her client was not taking illegal drugs before his arrest.
Now, Hill has spoken out about his experience for the first time. On his Instagram story, Hill spoke to the camera earnestly, sharing, “Your girl is gonna be OK, y’all. OK? Shit’s gonna be all right, shit’s gonna be all right.”
He continued, “Shit! That was fucking terrifying. That was terrifying! That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is gonna be all right.”
This comes after he began his Instagram account afresh, renaming it ‘Queen Madeline’. In March, he released an EP named Days Before Dreamboy, which featured eight songs including ‘Lean On My Body’ and ‘Need Dat Boy’.
His first full-length album since his 2021 debut Montero is in the works for a 2025 release, despite no confirmed date.
