Liam Gallagher thanks fans for not voting for Oasis in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ballot
Liam Gallagher has thanked fans for not voting for Oasis in the ongoing ballot for entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Oasis once again made the cut in the nominees for the Rock Hall Class of 2026 when it was revealed on February 25th, which Gallagher has consistently voiced his disapproval of over recent years.
Now, the singer responded to a post on X by the fan account Oasis World on March 9th, which shows the current fan-voted leaderboard as things stand. It displayed that the Britpop band are currently in 14th position out of 17 nominees, meaning they would not be inducted at this time.
As such, Gallagher responded to the post with the standings by saying: “I’d like to thank all the people who HAVENT voted for us from the bottom of my HEART this is for you thanks.”
Those who have made it into the Class of 2026 will be revealed next month after voting closes, with Phil Collins currently leading the pack for induction with just over 313,000 votes.
New Edition and Pink fall in line behind him thereafter, with 275,000 and 274,000 votes respectively. Currently, Jeff Buckley seems the least likely artist to be inducted, coming in 17th position with almost 73,500 votes.
Gallagher has been a prominent critic of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a number of years, saying when his band were first nominated in 2024: “As much as I love Mariah Carey and all that, I want to say: do me a favour and fuck off,” before adding that he has “done more for rock ‘n’ roll than half of them clowns”.
More recently, he also responded to a fan on X who posted the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum’s standings for potential future nominees which Oasis are part of, branding it an “embarrassing” list.
Instead of the Rock Hall, Oasis have thrown their support behind the new Help(2) album for War Child, in which a 7” live version of ‘Acquiesce’, performed on September 28th, 2025, at Wembley Stadium, is included in the gatefold of the vinyl and a hidden track on the double CD.
