Liam Gallagher enlists football hero Eric Cantona to star in his new video for ‘Once’

One thing that Liam Gallagher loves outside of music? Football. The singer is a huge Manchester City fan which makes it all the more surprising that he would enlist footballing hero (and Manchester United legend) Eric Cantona as the star of his new video for ‘Once’.

The Why Me? Why Not? singer had previously been teasing something special to arrive on this day via his Twitter account. Now, it appears we have what was promised—a brand new video.

The cinematic video begins with a dutiful “r kid” Liam Gallagher pouring The King Cantona a glass of wine before being dismissed and seeing Cantona take on his lofty role with aplomb.

It’s the second video for the Why Me? Why Not? track, that is marked out as one of the best on the album, but it’s certainly the best one. “I’m absolutely thrilled to have Eric Cantona, the last rock ‘n’ roll footballer, star in my video for ‘Once’. Songs like this don’t come around very often and neither do football players like him,” Gallagher said.

The role for the United icon came after video emerged of Cantona singing to Gallagher’s song late last year and has now seen the ex-footballer and sometime actor take on a starring role.

Behold, King Eric! Oh, and Liam Gallagher the butler.
