With his new album Why Me? Why Not? slowly bubbling to the boil of it’s release next week (Sept. 23rd), we couldn’t wait to share this clip of Liam Gallagher behind the scenes at the shoot for the video of his recent single ‘One of Us’.
The single is a stark and emotional look at family ties. The trouble between Liam and his brother Noel has long outlasted the band they took to the top of the rock and roll pile in the nineties and noughties; Oasis. The track reflects this and LG told NME that the song was about “family, friendship and a sense of belonging.”
Anthony Byrne has been the man behind LG’s latest visual input and had a hand in directing Gallagher’s latest promo clip for ‘One Of Us’ which explores these emotional themes. The video’s main concept was written by the creator of the BBC show, Stephen Knight and offers a softer side to Liam’s sometimes aggressive persona.
GQ provided the clip of LG behind-the-scenes of that video as an exclusive and since then we’ve rewatched it a fair few times. It offers yet more brilliant insight into the man behind the mouth – one particular humorous moment sees LG pitched against the Northern weather.
“It’s fucking raining. I don’t mind the cold. It’s when it’s raining you just look like a twat, don’t you?” Gallagher says in the video before being provided with a brolly. “I mean, doing videos in the Moors, you’re asking for it, aren’t you? You know what I mean? It’s not Barbados, is it?”
