Lewis Capaldi might well have confirmed his status as Scotland‘s nicest musician after a video emerged of him performing with a deaf schoolgirl.
While performing at Belladrum festival over the weekend, Capaldi was introduced to 10-year-old Niamdh who, despite being deaf, is a huge fan of the singer’s music.
Niamdh has bilateral sensori-neutral hearing loss and, while wears two hearing aids, she has been able to enjoy some music. According to the video’s description, Niamdh taught herself sign language through using YouTube tutorial videos.
Being a massive fan of Lewis Capaldi—and learned his song using sign language earlier in the summer—Capaldi and his team invited her backstage at the Belladrum Festival. After being hugely impressed by Niamdh’s skills, he attempted to get her included in his performance and tried to negotiate her joining him on stage to perform with him.
However, after discussing the plan with the festival organisers, it was decided that “health and safety concerns” denied her chance to join him on stage. He did, however, record this lovely video of Niamdh and him performing his song backstage.
