Leonardo DiCaprio cast in new Paul Thomas Anderson movie

Paul Thomas Anderson has been enlisted by Warner Bros to direct a new movie which will star Leonardo DiCaprio, Regina Hall and Sean Penn. The movie is as yet untitled and is set to begin production this year.

In a bid to keep the logline and any hint of plot secret, no details surrounding the movie have been revealed. It’s an original script by Paul Thomas Anderson, who is also set to produce the film alongside Sara Murphy and Adam Somner.

The star-studded film will be in a contemporary setting and is said to be the most commercial that Anderson has ever attempted. It is the by-product of the relationship developed by Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, Warner Bros co-chair and CEO, during the filming of Anderson’s last movie, Licorice Pizza.

It’s set to have a big ensemble cast, with DiCaprio, Penn, and Hall as the leads. Anderson should be more than capable of dealing with this set-up, given he has handled ensemble casts in the past on Boogie Nights.

This film is set to be a significant one for a number of reasons. Warner Bros, despite being responsible for the top-grossing movie of 2023, Barbie, is going through a rough time. Whatever Anderson is working on, paired with projects from the new alliance with Tom Cruise, allows the studio to change its narrative.

It’s no surprise that DiCaprio has been snapped up for another release, given he has been pitched several different projects since his stand-out performance in Killers of the Flower Moon. He is currently in the thick of an Oscar race alongside Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro and Eric Rother.

More news regarding the movie will follow, but until filming begins and more information is released, all fans can do is speculate.
