Laura Jane Grace cancels all shows remaining in 2025 after emotional abuse allegations

Against Me! singer Laura Jane Grace has cancelled all remaining shows in 2025 in light of recent emotional abuse accusations raised by her wife, Paris Campbell Grace.

On July 25th, Grace responded to a post from her wife, Paris, detailing her fear in their relationship. She wrote, “I feel invisible, I feel like nobody will believe me, and I know it’s not right. I feel like I’m living in a dystopian nightmare,” and elsewhere described Laura’s “sheer irrational rage.”

Laura initially responded to these allegations, writing, “I would like to acknowledge my fault here and take responsibility for my mistakes. Anyone who has been paying attention can see clear as day that this has been a toxic, codependent relationship from the start. It was reckless of me to get married so quickly and I made a lot of poor decisions where I absolutely should have known better.”

The Instagram post also included a lengthy statement from a member of her touring crew, who shared their opinion on seeing the relationship up close. Notably, Paris plays in Laura’s solo band. They claimed that Paris, not Laura, exemplified “a form of abuse.”

Now, the singer has decided to cancel her commitments for the rest of the year. She shared the news via a lengthy Instagram statement that began, “Unfortunately, it has become apparent to me that at this time continuing ahead with touring is neither realistic nor in good taste. I’ll be taking the rest of the year off from the road to work on myself and get my life in order.”

The singer then included a whole host of apologies, including to the band Murder by Death for bringing a “foul energy” to their farewell tour. She also wrote, “I would like to apologise to all the venues and promoters who had put in work setting up the shows and promoting the dates. I hope I get the chance to demonstrate in the future that this is not who I am or what I’m about.”

She apologised to her band, praising their talent despite the situation. Finally, she apologised to her record label “for my personal life royally fuckin up this album release. I still think it’s a really good record and that people should give it a listen.”

In a four-star review of her 2024 album Hole in my Head, Far Out wrote, “No word feels thrown away. The way that Laura Jane Grace can talk about different elements of her life, whether that is being transgender, memories of punk or giving love to the city she lives in, are beautifully articulated here. This is the most human-sounding album released in a long time, and it deserves your undivided attention.”
