Lana Del Rey and Matthew McConaughey offer support to Texas flood victims

A range of stars, including Lana Del Rey and Matthew McConaughey, have offered their support to the victims of the devastating flooding in Texas, which has now tragically claimed at least 104 lives.

Actor McConaughey, who grew up in the Uvalde area of the state, posted on Instagram: “It’s gonna be a long road ahead, but right now the shock, the pain, and the chaos need the steady hand of a neighbour.”

He added: “Texans are some of the most resilient and generous people on the planet,” urging his audience to support the affected communities and families as much as possible.

Meanwhile, Del Ray, who hails from New York but whose music has been deeply inspired by Southern American culture, and specifically Texan music, sent her support to the victims of Camp Mystic, a summer camp where many children sadly lost their lives.

She said: “We’ve been thinking of you every day since the floods. All of my prayers are with you every moment of the day this week and may all the angels be with you as you search for even more lost loved ones.”

Meanwhile, Texas native Hilary Duff also sent her prayers and condolences to the victims of the flood, as she wrote on social media: “I was – and forever will be – that girl with a wild hearted, fierce love for my barefoot summers at camp in the Texas Hill country. It imprints on your soul. It changes your identity. It’s a realm of true magic. You could never imagine an ending this tragic.”

Additionally, actor Julia Garner, who is soon set to appear in the new Marvel movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps, simply posted on Instagram Stories on July 6th: “Texas, God be near.”
