Having rounded off her Norman Fucking Rockwell! Tour, we’re revisiting the moment Lana Del Rey brought out The Neighbourhood’s very own Jesse Rutherford for a rendition of ‘Daddy Issues’.
As part of a sold out show at Los Angeles venue Hollywood Bowl, Del Rey introduced a wide range of different guests to the stage which included the likes of Chris Isaak, Sean Lennon and more. The final guest of that evening, he Neighbourhood’s very own Jesse Rutherford, was met by huge applause as they rolled into a cover of ‘Daddy Issues’.
The track, taken from The Neighbourhood’s second studio album Wiped Out!, went to the top of Billboard’s Alternative Album charts and was described as a message of “hope and heartfelt honesty” which successfully combines elements of pop, rock and hip-hop.
“So, somebody from one of my favourite bands is coming out,” Del Rey told the crowd nonchalantly. “I don’t know if you’ve heard of The Neighbourhood,” she asked before pausing to allow the cheers to subside.
“I’m gonna fuck this song up, I just want you to know,” she said before preparing herself. With words of encouragement, Rutherford replied: “It’s already fucked.”
