Lana Del Rey announces new album ‘The Right Person Will Stay’
After making plans to hit the road across the UK in 2025, Lana Del Rey has announced that she has a new album on the way entitled The Right Person Will Stay.
This comes after the singer-songwriter had dropped hints that a new album was on the way following her headlining slots at Reading in Leeds festival. The album is another collaboration with producer Jack Antanoff, who has come off of producing Kendrick Lamar’s latest surprise album, GNX, and produced Del Rey’s most recent record, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.
In a post on Instagram, Del Rey shared her gratitude at finally having the album finished, stating, “So grateful that my 13 tracks came together with my beautiful work between Luke, Jack and Drew Erickson amongst others.” While there has been no announcement of when the album is set for release, she has expressed a desire to have the first single, tentatively titled ‘Henry’, out before she headlines the Stagecoach Festival in 2025.
Amongst several dates in the US, Del Rey has also announced that she has major tour dates set for the UK in 2025, including one in Wembley on July 3rd and dates throughout June in Cardiff, Wales, and Dublin. Judging by where those dates fall, it’s unclear whether Del Rey will return to the Glastonbury Festival next year.
What has Lana Del Rey said about her new album?
Though details surrounding any of Del Rey’s new music have been scarce, she has admitted to wanting to return to a country sound in her most recent work. During the record’s production cycle, she mentioned taking Antanoff to various studios in Nashville, Tennessee, and a trip to the famous Muscle Shoals Studios in Alabama, which was famous for artists like Otis Redding.
When discussing the production, Del Rey said that she had always had felt a certain layer of Americana music throughout her discography, saying that her latest project “will just be a little lighter lyrically, and more pointed in a classic country, American, or Southern Gothic production—which again, so many of my songs already are.”
In the leadup to the record, Del Rey has also been releasing various singles for a project tentatively titled Lasso. While it’s unclear if The Right Person Will Stay is a modified version of her original vision, she has been putting out various singles over the past year, including the collaboration with Quavo, ‘Tough’.
The Right Person Will Stay is set for release on May 21st, 2025.
