Lana Del Rey and Nick Cave to appear on ‘The New Look’ soundtrack

The New Look, a new historical drama series on Apple TV+, will showcase renditions of era-specific songs performed by Lana Del Rey, The 1975’s Matty Healy, Nick Cave, Perfume Genius, Florence Welch, Bleachers, Beabadoobee, and more.

Drawing inspiration from real-life events and filmed entirely in Paris, The New Look chronicles the journeys of fashion icons Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, and their peers as they confront the challenges of World War II while spearheading the evolution of contemporary fashion.

In the series, Ben Mendelsohn portrays Dior, while Juliette Binoche takes on the role of Chanel. Additionally, it stars Maisie Williams as Catherine Dior, John Malkovich as Lucien Lelong, Emily Mortimer as Elsa Lombardi and Claes Bang as Spatz.

The series’ immersive and modern soundtrack, overseen by Grammy Award winner Jack Antonoff, includes reinterpretations of well-known songs from the early to mid-20th century.

Antanoff has worked with many of the artists on the soundtrack’s roster before, including collaborating with Del Rey on Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, along with previous performances alongside Healy, and others.

Considered by many as a highly desired figure in the music industry, Antonoff’s ventures into production have evolved into some of his most identifiable accomplishments. He seamlessly transitioned into this role while retaining a deep understanding of the potency of music.

More recently, Antonoff collaborated with Charli XCX to create new tracks for A24’s forthcoming pop music movie, Mother Mary, starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel in prominent roles. artists assumed the roles of songwriters and producers for the film, which is expected to be a pop-centric drama revolving around a fictional musician.

The New Look hits Apple TV+ on February 14th, 2024.
