Lady Gaga to release original song for ‘Wednesday’ series two
Lady Gaga has written an original song which will appear on the soundtrack for the second series of Wednesday, which is set to hit screens next month.
The hit Netflix show, directed by Tim Burton and starring Jenna Ortega as the daughter of The Addams Family, became an instant international success upon the release of its first series three years ago, and is now set to return for a highly anticipated second instalment.
However, according to Variety, Lady Gaga will not only be joining the cast but has also written a song called ‘Dead Dance’.
The singer’s acting role in the series had previously been confirmed last year. She is set to play the character of Rosaline Rotwood, a formidable teacher who comes into Wednesday’s orbit while she is at school.
Although Lady Gaga has not spoken publicly about the song herself, director Burton waxed lyrical on her talents at the premiere for the series in London last week, saying she was “inspirational” to work with.
He said: “She’s such an artist and so for me, working with an artist is inspirational,” before going on to laud the slew of other famous faces set to join the cast, including Steve Buscemi and Joanna Lumley. “But I felt that way about Joanna and Steve, who I’ve worked with before,” Burton added. “These people come on this set, you see the whole crew kind of light up. It’s a beautiful thing to witness.”
Lady Gaga was not in attendance at the premiere as she is currently performing her Mayhem Ball Tour, which she is set to continue from August 6th at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington.
However, Burton recently teased that he has another separate project with the singer potentially in the pipeline, as he admitted: “I’m not a musician, I’m not a music person, but she’s a real artist, and that was very inspiring to me.”
The first instalment of the second series of Wednesday will be released on Netflix on August 6th, with the second half slated to arrive on September 3rd.
