Lady Gaga set for double duty on ‘Saturday Night Live’
Saturday Night Live has announced that Lady Gaga will serve as both host and musical guest for the show’s March 8th, 2025, edition.
The announcement comes alongside the release of her upcoming eighth studio album, Mayhem, which is scheduled to be released the day before the broadcast on March 7th. It also comes just a matter of days after she last appeared on the show for its Homecoming Concert to celebrate the late-night show’s 50th anniversary.
This is not the first time that Gaga has taken on double duty on the show. She hosted and performed during her appearance in 2013, when she was accompanied by RuPaul for a duet of her song ‘Fashion’.
Gaga has appeared as a performer on the show four times before, with her debut coming in 2009 alongside host Ryan Reynolds. It will mark only the second time she has hosted the show following the previous double-shift 12 years ago.
The release of Mayhem is being hotly anticipated by fans of the American pop singer, with the singles ‘Disease’, ‘Abracadabra’, and ‘Die With a Smile’ featuring Bruno Mars having preceded the album’s release.
Mayhem is the first solo studio album from Gaga since 2020’s Chromatica. She released her collaborative album Love For Sale with the late singer Tony Bennett in 2021 and also released the soundtrack album Joker: Folie à Deux in 2024 to accompany the film of the same name.
The current season of Saturday Night Live has featured guests such as Timothée Chalamet, Charli XCX, Stevie Nicks and Chappell Roan. The preceding episode will feature a live performance from singer Tate McRae and will be hosted by stand-up comedian Shane Gillis, who was fired from SNL before making a single appearance on the programme.
