Lady Gaga cancels concert due to worsening “respiratory infection”
Lady Gaga has cancelled a show in Montreal after being “strongly advised” by doctors not to perform.
The artist is currently on her Mayhem Ball Tour, celebrating the release of her 2025 sixth album, Mayhem. The tour spans 86 shows across Europe, Asia, North America and Oceania. Her show on Monday, April 6th, 2026, was set to be the tour’s 82nd performance.
However, the pop star took to Instagram to inform fans that the show would be cancelled as she’d been battling a respiratory infection. This was the first cancelled date of the run, calling off her third performance at Montreal’s Centre Bell arena.
On social media, the artist wrote, “Hi everyone, I’m so sorry to share that I’m unable to perform tonight and have to cancel the show. I’ve been fighting a respiratory infection for the past few days and doing everything I can to rest and recover, but it’s gotten worse.”
Having had three days’ off since her last performance, doctors still advised Gaga to rest her voice and not push her ill-health even further. She continued, “My doctor has strongly advised me not to perform today and to be honest I don’t think I could give you the quality of a performance today that you deserve.”
The artist shared her sadness at not being able to go through with the show, telling her fans, “I know how deeply disappointing this is, and I truly could not feel worse about letting you down. I’m so sorry to everyone who made plans to be there and support me,” adding, “Being in Montreal and performing for you on Thursday and Friday was magical and deeply meaningful. To everyone who was coming tonight, I’m absolutely heartbroken and so sorry.”
The tour is expected to commence again on April 9th in Saint Paul for two nights at the Grand Casino Arena, before concluding on April 13th at New York’s Madison Square Garden for a sold-out finale.
This is not the first time ill-health has affected Gaga’s career. In 2013, Gaga had to undergo hip surgery after fracturing her hip while falling on stage. In her 2017 documentary, Gaga: Five Foot Two, the artist revealed a long-standing battle with chronic pain, which she thought was connected to this injury, but was later diagnosed as a symptom of fibromyalgia. In 2018, her struggles with her condition caused her to have to cancel the last ten shows of her Joanne tour.
Since then, she’s managed to keep her condition under control through tours and the making of several albums and films, but on April 6th 2026, she followed doctor’s orders to not take to the stage and push her body too far.
