Kristi Noem hits out at ‘South Park’ over “lazy” parody
Kristi Noem, the United States Secretary of Homeland Security, has hit back at South Park after their latest episode savagely mocked her looks and an odd story from her past.
In the episode, a character enters the Immigration and Customs Enforcement recruitment centre, where he asks for a job as he “has a gun.” He is easily granted the job. The character must then watch an orientation video, in which Noem explains the ethos of the organisation.
“A few years ago, I had to put my puppy down by shooting it in the face,” she shares, a gag continued throughout the clip in which she is seen shooting at numerous puppies, often taking four or five shots to kill them. “Because sometimes doing what’s important means doing what’s hard,” she adds.
This is based on truth. Noem killed her 14-month-old dog, which she was unjustly using as a hunting dog, after it got loose and attacked a neighbour’s chickens. She also shot a goat on the same day. Noem offered this information freely in a book she had written and edited herself.
In the clip, her face is also steadily melting off due to too much Botox. She responded to the parody while appearing on conservative commentator Glenn Beck’s show. She said, “It’s so lazy to just constantly make fun of women for how they look. It’s only the liberals and the extremists who do that. If they wanted to criticise my job, go ahead and do that, but clearly they can’t.”
Before the episode, Noem’s team at Homeland Security posted an image on X depicting an ICE raid from the upcoming episode. They also posted a recruitment link for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement alongside the image. In response, co-creator Trey Parker told ICE to “eat a bag of dicks.”
Another Trump administration member has commented on the latest episode; Vice President J.D. Vance pretended he was in on the joke. “Well, I’ve finally made it,” he wrote on X.
In the episode, Vance was portrayed as a miniature servant to Trump; he even offers to “apply the baby oil to Satan’s asshole” on Trump’s behalf amid their lascivious affair. His character was inspired by Tattoo from the series Fantasy Island.
After its first episode elicited a vitriolic statement from the White House, the show continues to antagonise the Trump administration. In an initial statement, White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers also hit out at viewers of the show, commenting, “The Left’s hypocrisy truly has no end – for years they have come after South Park for what they labelled as ‘offence’ content, but suddenly they are praising the show.”
