Kiss’ Paul Stanley admits to “differences” with “one of a kind” Ace Frehley

Paul Stanley has opened up on his relationship with the late Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley and hailed him as “one of a kind”.

The rock legend died on October 16th, aged 74. It was recently confirmed by the Morris County Medical Examiner that Frehley’s death was caused by sustaining blunt trauma injuries from a fall. The injuries were to his head, which proved to be a fatal accident.

The guitarist suffered the fall on September 25th, resulting in his hospitalisation, and the cancellation of a planned tour.

While Frehley, who was a founding member of the rock group, left Kiss for the second time in 2002 and wasn’t part of their farewell tour, his former bandmates honoured him on their Kiss Kruise with a poignant tribute.

Stanley also hosted a cooking seminar for fans, which was followed by a Q&A with fans that gave him an opportunity to speak about his relationship with Frehley.

The Kiss vocalist shared (via Blabbermouth), “It’s no secret, we had lots of differences with Ace, lots of differences with Peter (Criss). But that’s family. This whole Kiss monument was built with a foundation of those guys. We couldn’t have started it without them, and we couldn’t continue it with them, but it doesn’t change. (Ace) was so thrilled with the idea of going to the Kennedy Center.”

Kiss are set to be inducted on December 7th with the Kennedy Centre Honor, and have vowed to leave out an empty chair out of respect for Frehley, who will be inducted posthumously.

Stanley emotionally continued, “We miss him, and I hope he lived the kind of life he wanted to. He was one of a kind and he was wild, and he did say if his life ended tomorrow, he’d have no regrets because he lived the kind of life he wanted to. That’s all we can expect from any of us. When it’s over, hopefully we’ve had the kinds of lives that we wanted. That’s what I wish for all of you, just don’t go too soon.”

The three-day Kiss Kruise concluded on November 16th.
