Ace Frehley’s cause of death has been revealed
The cause of death for iconic Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley, who passed away on October 16th, has now been revealed.
According to the Morris County Medical Examiner, the 74-year-old died after sustaining blunt trauma injuries from a fall. The injuries were to his head, which proved to be a fatal accident.
The guitarist suffered the fall on September 25th, resulting in his hospitalisation. TMZ reported that Frehley was having to use a ventilator due to a bleed to the brain, and his health ultimately failed to improve. The publication has since shared that Frehley had a fracture to the back of his skull, as well as suffering a stroke and a subdural hematoma.
They reported that Frehley’s family ultimately decided to switch off his life support machine.
A statement from Frehley’s family shared with People following his passing read: “We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth.
“We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”
Frehley’s remaining tour dates for the year were cancelled following his injury, making his appearance at Providence’s Uptown Fair on September 5th his final live performance.
The musician co-founded Kiss in 1973, although he ultimately left the hard rock band in 1982 to pursue other endeavours, including his solo career. Frehley was a hugely influential guitarist, with his unforgettable face paint – which made him his alter ego, the Spaceman – helping to solidify Kiss as one of the most well-known bands of their generation.
Frehley’s final release was the album 10,000 Volts, released in 2024. It was his eighth record as a solo artist.
