Kiss’ Gene Simmons hospitalised following car crash
Kiss founder Gene Simmons is recovering at home after being hospitalised following a car crash in the Los Angeles area.
The incident occurred on October 7th in Malibu at 1pm on the 25000 block of Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department has told a local publication.
Per NBC4 Los Angeles, Simmons’ Lincoln Navigator crashed into a parked car and emergency services were called to the scene by a witness.
Local authorities have said that Simmons spoke to first responders when they arrived at the scene, and explained that he had passed out or fainted before accidentally crashing into the parked car after losing his consciousness.
Simmons’ wife, Shannon Tweed, told NBC 4 Los Angeles that doctors recently changed his medications and medical professionals have informed him that he needs to drink more water, which the rock musician apparently is struggling to do. However, she said he is currently doing fine.
Following a concert in Brazil with Kiss on their farewell tour in 2023, Simmons issued a statement explaining to fans that he suffers from dehydration issues after he sat down for a portion of a concert. The bassist said it was “nothing serious” and shared that he had “experienced weakness because of dehydration.”
He wrote on social media, “We stopped for about five minutes, I drank some water, and then all was well.”
Simmons, along with the rest of the iconic rock group, are set to reunite for an unmasked show in honour of the Kiss Army fan club’s 50th anniversary next month. The festivities will take place in Las Vegas at Virgin Hotels from November 14th to November 16th.
Speaking on New York’s 94.3 The Shark radio station in May, Simmons shared of the upcoming show: “This is much more a fan gathering. The Kiss Army … are taking over the Virgin Hotel and we will show up, but I don’t even know if the entire band’s gonna be there. I know Paul (Stanley) and I are gonna be there, and Tommy (Thayer).”
