Gene Simmons clarifies upcoming Kiss reunion: “It ain’t a concert”

Gene Simmons has defended Kiss for their plans to reunite in Las Vegas later this year, following the conclusion of their farewell tour, which was billed as their goodbye.

In March, they confirmed plans to play one more show. The iconic rock group will play an unmasked show in honour of the Kiss Army fan club’s 50th anniversary, which will be celebrated in Las Vegas at Virgin Hotels from November 14th to November 16th.

Due to the band’s globetrotting farewell tour, they have received criticism for their plan to perform together again, including Dee Snider, who labelled the move “insulting” on an X post.

Information surrounding their upcoming performance has been kept secret. So far, it’s only been announced that Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons will perform without make-up, along with two special guests who have yet to be revealed.

Simmons has now explained that it won’t be a traditional concert but a one-of-a-kind experience for their most loyal fans, who are set to congregate in Las Vegas.

Speaking on New York’s 94.3 The Shark radio station, Simmons shared: “This is much more a fan gathering. The Kiss Army … are taking over the Virgin Hotel and we will show up, but I don’t even know if the entire band’s gonna be there. I know Paul (Stanley) and I are gonna be there, and Tommy (Thayer). “

The rock musician continued: “Bruce Kulick probably will show up, and we’ll jam, answer questions and stuff. It ain’t a concert — we’re gonna do none of that stuff. I may even bring my solo band up there just for shits and giggles. So this is more a fan event, like a fan gathering that we’re gonna be guests at.”

Despite postponing a series of dates until 2026, Simmons is currently on tour across North America and will be joined by fans who have paid $12,000 to be his roadie for a day. He recently defended the move, stating it was for insurance reasons as “nowadays everything is so litigious” and “everybody sues everybody for no reason.”
