Kirsten Dunst likens son’s frightening health scare to ‘Final Destination’

Hollywood actor Kirsten Dunst has opened up about her son’s health scare, comparing the situation to the movie Final Destination.

The incident occurred when Dunst was filming the upcoming Ruben Östlund movie, The Entertainment System Is Down, in Budapest. For the project, she temporarily moved to the Hungarian city with husband Jesse Plemons and their two children.

In a new interview with Town and Country, Dunst explained how her youngest son, James, went through a serious health scare while in Budapest, which led to the rest of her family heading back to Los Angeles.

As a result, Dunst was alone in Budapest while shooting The Entertainment System Is Down, and was in a constant state of fear about her son, sharing, “Final Destination, where you’re imagining all the things that could go wrong, worst case scenarios happening to your child.”

She continued, “I have never seen that movie. But I know the concept. That’s how it feels to be a mother at times.”

However, on a positive note, Dunst says that “it brought us together as a family in such a deeper way.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Dunst revealed that she wants to be involved in the sequel to A Minecraft Movie due to her kids loving the first film, and also for financial reasons, adding, “Maybe I can just make a movie where I don’t lose money?”

Dunst’s next movie, Roofman, is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. The film, based on a true story, stars Channing Tatum as the eponymous fugitive, and Dunst as Leigh Wainscott, who is Roofman’s love interest. She describes the film as having the “drama of Christmas movies and not getting what you wish for and the heartbreak”.
