Australia’s most prolific band, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, have released yet another album as they share Chunky Shrapnel.
The new live album, which is made up of 16 track that were recorded during the King Gizzard’s 2019 European tour, includes takes from performances in Madrid, London, Manchester and more.
To coincide with the album news, the band have also revealed a screening of the visuals taken from the tour. The film, which was directed by John Angus Stewart, captures King Gizzard’s tour in the UK and Europe in support of their hugely popular album Infest The Rats’ Nest.
“It was fun and funny and wild and weird,” band leader Stu Mackenzie said of the project. “Sometimes an inconspicuous fly on the wall, sometimes an intrusive camera man one inch from my face.” The concert film was available to stream exclusively on Vimeo on April 17th for just one week.
The film, which was originally set to premiere at Melbourne’s Astor Theatre before lockdown, will be featured with additional bonus footage being made available. The project will again be screened on Vimeo for a 24 hour period with a charge of $10.
“In order for Chunky to eventually show in cinemas, these are limited time only screenings and they’ve gotta disappear off the internet when they’re done. This is the last one I reckon,” the band said in a statement.
For now though, stream the record below.
